about

Recorded in 2011, Breathe is presented here in several ways. The first version is the simplified, short Mass Consumption Mix. The second is the fully realized Complete Mix of the song - which is basically a medley with three main components. The first starts around 1:25, the second follows at the 6 minute mark, and the third comes in at 8:30 and completes the piece. The Blueprint Mix is the very first version of the song. What you hear is the song being written as it's played. There's a chaos to it - overlapping melodies constantly going in and out sometimes gliding together while other times clashing. The Alternate Process Mix was a continuation of writing which focused mainly on sonic textures, mood and progression rather than leads and finite harmonies.

"This is as close to straight up trance as I've ever gotten. I grew up with great trance albums like Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport and Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise 2. My favorite tracks are those that don't fully reveal themselves until your deep into the mix, and I think that's something I subconsciously aimed for during these sessions. Still - I go about writing and recording all April In June tracks in an unorthodox way - which is to perform all tracks live - rather than looping, or using samples. I also don't quantize anything - so what your hear is what was played." - D.
